I am looking for eloquent ways to describe restaurant and receptionist experience in a professional resume?

Sarita asked:

I have worked in the customer service and restaurant industry for years with some receptionist and office work along the way. I have my bachelors degree and am trying to set up my resume to find a job in the travel industry. I would appreciate any ideas anyone has to offer on how I can jazz up my work experience. Thanks!!

I have been looking for a job since June, 2009 – Is my resume the problem?

Christine asked:

How do I know if the problem is my resume? I have sent out over 80 resume’s and only received 2 requests for interviews. My background is customer service and I have my designation in 401(k) administration. I think everyone sees my resume and doesn’t see the customer service skills just the 401(k) administration background. Can anyone help with suggestions on how to write a great resume? I do not have the money to pay to have it professionally written.

How do your place yourself on the top of the resume pile?

dfische7 asked:

I just graduated college and I have 5years of admin experience and over 7 years of customer service experience working for a variety of companies. I am even willing to move because I have not even settled down anywhere. Trying to find a job over the internet is killing me. There is never any contact information and you apply for like 300 jobs and nobody e-mails back and you have no way of checking status or even making a name for yourself by calling personally or walking in. When I do get a fax number I fax my resume and cover letter and get thrown in a pile of 400 people! How do I get mine on top! I just need someone to give me a chance, although I graduated with a degree for teaching, after my internship I decided not to teach. I am trying business again, which I have the experience in, and all people see is educator that all of a sudden is a child hater! Why can’t people see that educator means good presenter, organizer, energy, positive, outgoing, detailed and self starter!
I am unable to call any of these people because they only list e-mail or fax through their e-mail.

How should I tailor my resume for a job fair?

Sarah S asked:

I have been out of the job market for a few years (raising kids) and will be attending a job fair in the fall. I am interested in several types of careers (customer service, sales, publications) as my experience, interest, and education covers all these areas. Is it acceptable to hand out a resume that does not state a clear objective?
